In Darkness, Together

In Darkness Together was a project for one of my game design classes. I worked on this game independently with all the art and code being my own.

The game was created over the span of 4 weeks with the main idea being that it would be a two player split screen game where the players would need to help each other through different platforming levels. I like the idea of limiting the area of the screen each player could see and basing the area the player could see off the position of the other player on his side of the map. This forced players to work together and communicate to be able to work their way though the level. There was a time limit set for each level which you had to beat before you could move on to the next level. There was also pickups in the world which would increase the players range of vision but were not required. The "art" was made in Photoshop and the game was created in unity using visual studio and c#.

I used a personal trello board to keep track of my ideas and progress to the game. There was a lot of ideas I wanted to put into the game but being an independent project with a 4 week dead line I was not able to add all of the mechanics I wanted to into the game. I created the basic platforming controls and lighting system first and gave it to friends and the rest of the class to test. Once I knew the game idea would work I created the levels for the game added sound and attempted to create some art for the game which was required for the project.
